XAVIER BOARD OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN INDIA
XAVIER BOARD OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN INDIA, (XBHEI), is the only association of all the Catholic Institutions of Higher Education in India. It is officially recognized by the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of India(CBCI) and functions in collaboration with the CBCI Commission for Education and Culture. It is the Indian organ to represent the International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU / FIUC) with headquarters in Paris. It stands for Gospel values, Excellence and Leadership through higher education in India. Its national office is in Bangalore: Xavier Board National Office, 31 Primrose Road, Bangalore 560 025.
Vision & Mission
The Church in India has invested her best talents and resources in higher education to continue the mission of Jesus Christ who commanded to “Go and Teach all nations” (Mt.28,20). In our educational ministry, both as individual institutions and as members of a corporate body such as Xavier Board, we try to build inclusive human communities for the re-generation of India and its people, through our share in nation building and national resource development. All our educational institutions and the committed personnel are the Church’s contribution to national development..
16th Peace Knit: National Peace Convention from 30th September 2023 to 2nd October 2023, organized by NEISSR in collaboration with Xavier Board of Higher Education in India.
Awards
For Colleges: Sr. Hedwige’s Award is given annually to a college which strives to bring Christ to the campus through various programmes and the award is decided based on the Annual Report
For Students: A National level Essay Writing Competition is held every year on a relevant topic and the best 2 essays are chosen for the first and second prize.
From the Academic Year 2016 – 2017, the Essay Competition for students has been replaced by a competition based on presentation of case studies and practices on environmental issues and interventions.

Our Objectives
The objectives of XBHEI are to:
- promote and safeguard the interests of Catholic institutions of Higher Education in India.
- help institutions in the spiritual, religious and general education of staff and students by undertaking and/or promoting training programmes, refresher courses, research, etc.
- co-ordinate the activities of the member institutions at the national or regional level to bring about greater unity and effectiveness.
- represent the special interests of the institutions before the Government, Judiciary, University, UGC, NAAC, NCTE, AICTE, and other related bodies in academic matters and also to ensure the rights of Minorities.
