Prayerful Greetings from Xavier Board of Higher Education in India. It is the only association of all the Catholic institutions of Higher Education in India. It was established in 1951 by great educational visionaries of our land with its National Office in Bangalore. During the past 6 decades it has stood for Gospel values, Excellence and Leadership training (GEL) of our youth during their education. The National Association of Catholic Higher Education in India is a moral person established to unify and co-ordinate the activities of Catholic higher educational institutions in India and is approved by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India(CBCI).

The purpose of the Association is to work for constant development of knowledge and to create a more just and humane world in the light of Christian faith and Gospel values. Some of its objectives are:

a. To promote and safeguard the interests of mainly Catholic institutions of Higher Education in India;
b. To concern itself with the spiritual and religious well being of students and staff of member institutions and may be extended to other institutions as well;
c. To aid the institutions in the spiritual, religious and general education by undertaking and/or promoting training programmes, refresher courses, research, and the like;
d. To co-ordinate the activities of the member institutions at the national or regional level to bring about greater unity and effectiveness;
e. To represent the special interests of the institutions before the Government, Judiciary, University, UGC, NAAC, NCTE, AICTE, and other related bodies;
f. To provide a link between the institutions and the Catholic Bishops'Conference of India; g. To encourage the institutions to make higher education available to the poor and marginalized especially pf rural India; and the like.
At present, Xavier Board functions through eight regions and the Regional Presidents and Secretaries organize programmes at the regional level. At the national level we coordinate the activities, make high level contacts with officials, Universities and Governments regarding smooth functioning of our educational institutions and for the minority rights. We conduct Leadership training for students and staff animators annually. Triennial conferences are held for all the member colleges where elections are held to Board Members and Regional Offices. There are 130 Life Members besides others who pay annually.
If your college is interested to become a LIFEMEMBER, kindly do the following:
i. Pay the Life Membership fee. The Membership fee is as follows:

A Students up to 200 (expect Training & Nursing colleges) Rs. 1,500/- Rs. 500/-
B Colleges with Students Strength 201-500 Rs. 2,000/- Rs. 750/-
C Colleges with Students Strength 501-2000 Rs. 3,000/- Rs. 1,000/-
D Colleges with Strength above 2000 / Training & Nursing colleges Rs. 5,000/- Rs. 1,500/-
E Professional, Engineering, Medical, Autonomous College / CE / University Rs. 15,000/- Rs. 5,000/-

ii. pay the Corpus Fund @ Rs. 5/- per student.

iii. Apply for Life Membership in the attached format. Also please forward a DD payable at Bangalore, for the amount of Membership fee and Corpus fund in the name of the Secretary, Xavier Board, 31 Primrose Road, Bangalore 560 025.

N.B. All the institutions of higher education in India that are managed by Dioceses, Parishes, Religious Houses are eligible to become members of Xavier Board. Those institutions of higher education managed by Catholic are eligible to become members of Xavier Board after 5 years of their existence only if they provide a non objection certificate from the Local Bishop and a written agreement that they would strive to continue the mission of the Church in the institution.
